--- “To Understand Three Kinds of Love, To Realize Chinese Dream Together”
In order to further understand “Chinese Dream”, to enhance students’ social responsibility, sense of mission, innovative spirit, practical ability, and humanistic feelings, to make students have a better understanding of “three kinds of love”, to raise students awareness and initiative of socialist core values. December 10, a speech contest themed “To Understand Three Kinds of Love, To Realize Chinese Dream Together” was held in Speaking Hall. It was sponsored by Student Affairs Office of CSU, and undertaken by Business School. Judges of this contest are: Tao LI, Head of Student Affairs Office, Yong YAO, Vice-director of Graduate Student Affairs Department, Zhengzong LIU, the Deputy Secretary of Youth League Committee of CSU, Huadong LI, Deputy Party Secretary of CSU, and Zhenhua CHEN, a teacher from Student Affairs Department. In addition, all the counselors of Business School also came to attend this contest.
Before the contest, 14 contestants drew lots to determine their starting order. And then, the host announced the start of the contest. The first contestant is Wenjia KONG. She made an impassioned description about her Chinese Dream. Xiaoyu TANG, another contestant from Business School, gave a different speech. With a vivid tone, she called for us to realize our Chinese Dream by dealing with daily affairs. All the contestants made their speeches in turn. Some of them are humorous, some are modest, and some are passionate. Every one showed his excellent expression ability and special personality charm. Audience kept clapping for their elegant and grand speeches.
As soon as 14 contestants finished their speech, Yong YAO, Vice-director of Graduate Student Affairs Department, commented on this contest. He firstly analyzed the logical relations of subject of this contest---“To Understand Three Kinds of Love, To Realize Chinese Dream Together”, and stated that there existed a main thought---“knowledge and action are one” in the concept of “love learning, love labor, love motherland”. And then, YAO expressed his feelings about this contest, as well as three important skills of making speech: profundity, validity, and sense of beauty. He thought that speech was a way to express one’s personal thought, and it should be contagious. The real emotion can resonate, and the sense of beauty in language can make speech better.
At last, the hosts announced winners. Seven students including Yuxiao TANG won the third prize, five students including Xin XIE won the second prize, Yu QIN from School of Public Administration, and Tingting YAN from School of Public Health took the crown of the contest. Judges and honored guests issued certificates for winners.
This contest has lasted for three weeks. At the same time, an essay contest including over 400 students of 28 schools was also held. By these activities, students can look into the future and learn to realize their dreams with a grateful heart.
